Sorry to perpetuate the thread, but just an observation from a personal point of view.
When activating I find the spotting extremely valuable, not to qualify a summit, but to provide the opportunity for as many chasers as possible to work me. Being interested in unique summits, I regularly activate lowly single point summits with a low activation count. Some of these are well screened on VHF. To refuse a spot when offered would, to my mind, be extremely churlish. It is very pleasing to be informed that I have given a chaser a unique.
