SP004 Shining Tor 15/12

Just a quick message to thank the chasers who made a very cold activation yesterday a successful trip out.
It was a bit of a quick decision to go : just grabbed my rucksack and boots and off to pick up Micky M6MMM/2E0YYY. This was my mistake as I simply did not have enough layers on to keep out the cold. Forgot my gloves too. Not a good start.
Still, thought I’d have a go on 144 SSB - makes a change for me, and Micky wanted HF.
Out comes Yaesu 817 and my SOTA pole made from plastic pipe. Been a grand little ariel, but it is broken at every joint now :frowning:
Every time I use the 817 I like it more and more.
My thanks go to:-
G6WRW, G0TRB, GW7AAV, G4WSB, G0WTD, G6LKB and G6ODU.
Sorry if I missed anyone. Conditions were not very good with a bit of static coming from somewhere( hence I did not manage a QSO with G0RQL…I’ll try harder next time!), and it was rather cold.
Called CQ a few times at the end of the activation, just to make sure no further takers. Station closed at 13.39
Once again, many thanks,
73’s John
