Seems normal here, W11.
That’s because it’s been fixed Brian
The Ethernet cables were leaking. There are 1’s and 0’s all over the server room floor.
It should be OK now.
I was using binary today to tell my much younger colleague how many tins of Quality Street to hand up to me at work today. Thankfully the most I required at any one time was 100.
Actually I performed one of the two guaranteed IT fixes. These are either:
“Percussive maintenance” where you give it a good slap.
“Reset the uptime to zero” where you switch it off and on again.
The second one worked
Do you dump them or spend good drinking time sorting them?
Ah yes… the imminent arrival of Yuletide
Here is the last 6 hours traffic graph for one of the two servers. At about 1905 the traffic starts to rise (marked as 1) this is when the other server started not to work as expected. It handled fewer requests so the this server picked up the slack.
At point 2 the second server got fed up doing all the work and went on strike!
At point 3 I restarted both of the servers and normal service was resumed.
Here’s what the leak looked like. Pluggable, yes, but never sweep up the spilled numbers for reuse. The dust pan has bits of dirt, and the result will be noisy and buggy code… Elliott, K6EL
Rubbish… it was those pesky hamsters taking an unauthorised leave of absense…
There are 10 types of people in the world… those that understand binary… and those that don’t…
Tah boom, tish…
I used to like After 1000 Mints.
Is the spike in traffic at 1 normal?
Yes. There are 2 API servers behind a load balancer. One API server started to take longer to respond and so processed fewer API calls. The load balancer started feeding more requests to the other server. At point 2, the second server became unresponsive. I didn’t look for any causes in the logs, I just restarted the two API jobs.
Those that know binary, … those that don’t, … and those who mistake it for ternary
Spoken like a seasoned programmer
There are actually three types of people in the world,
Those who can count, and those who cannot count.
2 types if you are VK or VE. Ian or Andrew.
