SOTAwatch Planned Maintenance 6th March 2015

Hi everybody,

From 2200 utc today, Friday 6th March 2015, essential maintenance is planned for the servers hosting Sotawatch, & the SOTA website.

This maintenance may result in the above sites being unavailable for a short time. This possible outage is not expected to last more than 2 hours, but should be considerably less.

This reflector will not be affected.

Thank you for your patience.

Mark G0VOF obo SOTA MT

I think there may be some maintenance taking place on the database today… When I look at a Summits list such as G/NP I haven’t worked any! Anyone else affected?

73 Phil

PS I haven’t activated any summits either according to the database!
Tried logging out and back in to no effect… Database Manager MM0FMF Andy is on a Scottish hill at present sending Morse…

PPS Every SOTA worked is a new one today!! (Time to stop saying ā€œThank you for the new one!ā€)

I cannot access the database, at the present time.
As the maintenance was scheduled for 6/03/15 this may be a different issue

Hi all,

The planned maintenance on Friday went fine & was completed within about 20 minutes.

There is an un-related issue with the database today which the MT are aware of.

Apologies for any inconvenience, I will update you when I have more info.

Yep no can enter me chasers. oh well :hushed:
At least the new spots still coming through OK

Just one of those things

Karl

Many thanks for the information Mark. Sorry to hear we have an issue. It’s all work for those at the coal face… or on the summit when they get home. Not what you want after an activation…

Guys, its a waste of time posting ā€œme tooā€, the only person who can do anything about it is on a summit, until he gets back home we are all in the same boat!

Brian

It’s fixed itself Brian - the gremlins are at work!

73 Phil

All working here now.

Jimmy M0HGY

Normal service has been resumed :grinning:

Another load of Sota contacts up loaded :stuck_out_tongue:

Karl

Hi all again,

It appears the database outage earlier was due to a problem at the host side of things, so not something we have done to ā€œbreakā€ it.

Everything should be working as normal now, but if you are experiencing any problems, feel free to post them here.

Thanks & 73,

Mark G0VOF

Just for info, we have the SOTA services spread across several data centres/providers.

  • The reflector (this site) runs in the cloud. Who knows where it is right now!

  • SOTAwatch & the SOTA web site (sota.org.uk) runs on a Linux server which I think is in datacentre in London.

  • The database (webserver and DB engine) are hosted on Windows in a different datacentre that is also in London.

  • The SOTA cluster runs on a Linux server in Iceland.

All of the above are either fully or partially funded from merchandise sales and your donations.

I have, in the last couple of days, ordered some goodies so I hope that will help with the costs in some small way.

It does and is much appreciated.

How long does it normally take to get an order sent? I’m not agitating, I just need to know when to watch out for the postie bearing a parcel.
