SOTAWATCH Display:

Thanks to some pretty neat work by Jon, there is an additional mode for SOTAWATCH display that you can use. There is the regular view that you are all used to which will normally display the last 5 spots and next 5 alerts and there is the new compact view which will display 10 of each. This allows you to see more spots & alerts on the Home page while the rest of the information displayed in normal view will be shown in a pop up box when you hover the mouse over the spot or alert. An additional feature of the compact view is that if there are several consecutive spots for the same call sign only the last will appear and the previous spots will appear in the pop up box that appears when you hover the mouse over the spot. You’ll see a number next to the call sign that will tell you how many more spots will show in the pop up. If you want to try out or switch to compact view, then click Edit Account, check the Compact button at the bottom, then Update User Details. A few of you have found this option during development but it is now available to everyone. If you experience any issues please let us know.

Compact view will also affect the spots page but not the alerts page for what we hope are obvious reasons.

Very neat. Thanks for all the hard work that goes on behind the scenes.

Nice work Jon… Thanks very much.

In reply to G0CQK:
Yes, thanks Jim for letting us know and to Jon for his (unpaid) work. This feature unclutters the spots page making it much quicker to get an overview of what’s happening with particular stations without losing access to historical information.

While we’re on - thanks to all MT. Your work is appreciated.

Many thanks, Jim & Jon. Very nice on the Home page as I keep switching between this and the main Spot/Alert pages.

In reply to G0CQK:

Yes yes yes yes yes! Brilliant! This will make it so much easier to see who is where when I log on, particularly with the mobile from a summit. Many thanks for putting this in place and for the hard work Jon.

Wow this is great, makes a big difference! Thanks for all the hard work put in by all.

Thanks! I like the new compact display a lot, particularly on the main page. It makes things much easier. I have flipped back to long form when spots are getting confusing, though.

Thanks - it’s very neat! Well done Jon.
Are there any plans to show on the summit regions page the number of uniques chased and activated? E.g. G/LD region [55 summits] Activated 27 Chased 15. It would be a nice to have but not essential.

The team is alerted to the problem. We’ll get back when we can.

A curiosity at the moment, here (on FireFox) with a lack-of-mouseover on one spot:

Mon 09:27 2M0NCM/P +2] on GM/SS-213 (Posted by SMS) 7.156 ssb

The others seem fine, and I can’t figure out why that one isn’t…

Edit: …unless it’s the summit’s name: “Cnoc a’Bhaile-shios” ?

Rick, I mouse-hovered down the pages of the last 48 hours. Info boxes are missing on at least five entries, and GM/SS213 is bad at 09:27…as you said…but fine at 8:36, when there were no hidden spots. What do the bad ones have in common? The majority, but not all, were sent by SMS. Most of the SMS generated spots are OK, so why those five? Lack of a comment in the SMS spots doesn’t seem to be a factor. All of the spots involving the TR region of W7N are missing boxes, no matter how they were sent. A mystery inside a puzzle inside an enigma.

It’s the single ’ Rick. These have caused for some time.

I guess I only noticed because, with the compact form, the mouseover text is essential…

In reply to M0LEP:

Rick,

This seems to have been a problem with any spots submitted via the Spotlite facility. It should now be fixed for spots posted from now on.

Thanks, that’s good to know. Some odd invisible characters thrown in to mess with things?

How far does it go in hunting down multiple spots for combination purposes? Sometimes it seems to gather together quite a few based just on callsign and summit reference, while at other times it also seems to take operating band into account. Or is it working strictly on “consecutiive”, so that if spots from two (or more) different activations interleave it leaves them all as single spots?

Just curious… 72, Rick M0LEP

In reply to M0LEP:

Rick,

It just collapses consecutive spots of the same activator on the same summit.

This way it hopefully tidies up the display without disrupting the flow of activations. We’ll see how it goes. If it becomes necessary to further collapse non-consecutive spots I can look into it.

Hello this is Gerald F6HBI,
Wed 14/11/2012 i intend to be active from 2 differents summit, so i set an alert for the 2 both summit; when i was on F/AM-488 i realised i could not reach the 2nd summit and canceled F/AM-487. As i was CQing on 14.044 by the time i was supposed to be on the second summit, KU6J spotted me from the wrong REF;
