SOTA newbie ! GM7STP

Hello all, Peter here, GM7STP, a SOTA newbie !

First of all my thanks to Andy @MM0FMF and Jim @G0CQK for setting me up on SOTAwatch / SOTA SMS Gateway and SOTA Reflector.

I am located south side of the Erskine Bridge, about 16 miles from Glasgow in Scotland. I was originally licensed in England in the early 1980’s with callsign G6FSB, but have pretty much been dormant in amateur radio until recently when I changed callsign to GM7STP. I am a member of the RSGB and the G-QRP Club.

Now well retired and having undertaken my 1st Activation last week on 15-May-2025 (Activation report to follow !) I am looking forward to many more activations and even some homebrew construction.

There is certainly a wealth of knowledge and experience generously shared in the SOTA community on SOTA Reflector that I have enjoyed reading about and am undoubtedly benefitting from already.

Am now looking forward to many more SOTA QSOs !

Welcome to SOTA Peter. You certainly live in a brilliant location for access to a wide range of summits. Looking forward to working you on one band or another.

Hi Peter,

Welcome to SOTA, and congratulations on achieving your first activation. I look forward to reading your report in due course.

A warning though. SOTA is very addictive!

Best of luck with your next activations and hopefully we’ll have a S2S one day.

Well done on completing your first SOTA activation Peter, and welcome to the very addictive SOTA hobby :grinning: as many have said above, you live in a prime location, and a lot of us would be very jealous!

Looking forward to reading your future reports, and hope for a S2S soon.
