SOTA Mapping: GPS Track Assigned to Wrong Summit

I tried to upload a track that starts at the summit of Schüttkogel (OE/ST-345) and crosses over to Wirtsspitz (OE/ST-518).

I wanted to upload the track to the Wirtsspitz page, where the track ends. However, even though I selected Wirtsspitz, the track always ends up on the Schüttkogel page. It seems that the software overrides my selection.

Am I doing something wrong? Is there a workaround?

Hello Heinz,

After the upload the system will try to find the nearby summit along the track.

So I think this automatic sometimes takes some seconds to Trigger and has switched back your summit.

First upload the gpx, wait for the automatic selectsnof Assoziation Region and summit to finish. Then change summit in the dropdown list above the map before import …

Hi Joe,

Thanks, that was it! For some mysterious reason, the software decides to “help” by changing the summit to what it thinks is the better choice. You just have to wait patiently until it picks the wrong one, and then change it back.

The only problem is that “patiently waiting” and I are not the best of friends. :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:
