The 2025 SOTA CT Day, which marks the anniversary of the implementation of the Summits on the Air (SOTA) program in mainland Portugal will take place on April 5th and 6th.
Just like the SOTA program, this activity is not a contest, but rather an “on the air” gathering where all radio amateurs are welcome.
The event aims to raise awareness about the Summits on the Air program within the amateur radio community, namely to increase the number of “activators” and “chasers” as well as to disseminate the rules of this international activity.
Existing activators are encouraged to invite other amateur radio operators to accompany in their respective activations in CT SOTA, CT3 SOTA and CU SOTA summits.
Certificates will be available for both activators, chasers and SWL participants.
UPDATE: Article in English is now available on our site, with instructions on how to claim your certificate.
See you on the air!

There we will be.
I will try to transmit using SSB in VHF band.
I am thinking about bringing my old ICOM IC-202S and my Totsuko TR-2100M that weekend, and see what happens.
Hope to be listened and chased…

We just extended the “party” to another day, on the 12th. It sucks, but it is Spring and we need the water…

I operated from CT/MN-030 with my old IC-502. 2 watts SSB, did some QSOs.
This rádio is a gift of my friend CU2IJ, Luis, from Azores islands. TNX Luis!!!

I’ve only seen Japanese pictures of those IC-502 radios.
You can find they in e-Bay. They are 1970’s radios, but still working…. They drift a little for 30 minutes but when they get warm, they are stable. (They also drifted a little when they were new in the 70’s)
With some patience you can do some “different” QSO’s. The dial its very sensitive and analogic, só spotting yourself in Sotawach its a bit complicated sometimes because you cant know the exact frequency, like in digital display transceivers. But I like that different and vintage way of practising radio. 73 Jorge.

I know a local ham who has had an IC202 since he bought it new in the 70s and still uses it to drive transverters. Wonderful radios

O bought one IC-202s from a local ham. That has been my disgrace… I liked it só much that I begin to collect all the “family”.
I bought an IC-202E, the IC-402 and Luis, CU2IJ offered me his IC-502.
My favourites are the 502 and the 202s.
Would like to find a IC-502A, but those are extremely rare. It will be nice to find a BNOS LP 3-50 linear amplifier for my 502, but thats also nearly a miracle…
