SOTA CSV editor on Linux under wine

Stewart, G0LGS says on his website that it’s possible to run the Windows SOTA CSV editor that he wrote on a Linux system under wine.

Is there anyone here one does this?

Despite being a long term Linux developer/user I’ve never used wine and have no idea what is required. Some help and/or an example configuration would be appreciated.

I think you need to run winecfg once and then start the app using wine as launcher.

❯ wine
Usage: wine PROGRAM [ARGUMENTS...] Run the specified program
wine --help Display this help and exit
wine --version Output version information and exit

Installers will create a shortcut in the startmenu for easy launch.

I am testing it just out of curiosity…

Update:
Installed and running

Only thing is it complains about not being able to create a database for the summits. (Looks like Microsoft Data Access Components (MDAC) is needed to be installed for that)

But overall I would say csv can go and just do everything in adif now. Much better to integrate with other logging tools. my 2 cents

UPDATE: I’ve got wine installed and the SOTA CSV editor running.

However, as Stewart mentions on the web page for the program “you will need to configure MDAC to use the Summit Reference Database”.

Has anyone done this and could give me any pointers please.

Note, I have not been a Windows user for about 20 years apart from needing it to run 2 applications.

Usually you can use a tool like winetricks to install other libraries.
