SOTA COLOMBIA.

Good day, despite our efforts in Colombia, South America, to participate in the SOTA program, we have not been able to reach an agreement with the organizers so that, even manually, we can load the points so that we can all enjoy the activations in Colombia. They can help us so that the administrators can give us the opportunity to enter the points manually since the formats they ask for do not exist in Colombia South America, thank you. The Andes with significant heights that we would like to add.

Would love to have Sota in Colombia… a lack of summits is definitely not the issue.

Hello Alex,

Having gone through the experience of documenting summits for the SOTA summits team to examine and approve, I know that for some summits the prominence information is hard to identify. Manually examining topographic maps for elevation of areas surrounding a summit is hard work. Software can do some of the work but only if the data is available from official sources.

Prominence is the main issue faced by survey teams wanting to validate new summits. The height of summits is rarely an issue. Without sufficient detail in official maps, prominence is very difficult to identify confidently.

Good luck in finding a way to validate your summits.
