SOTA Beams Challenge - well done Thomas

Congratulations to Thomas M3OOL who has been announced as the winner of the 2007 SOTA Beams Challenge. Thomas (14) did 46 SOTA expeditions beating Timothey 2E0KEA (12) and Jordan M3TMX into 2nd and 3rd places respectively.

You can find further details, and the rules for the 2008 SOTA Beams Challenge at http://www.sotabeams.co.uk

In reply to M1EYP:
Many congratulations Thomas, well done!
…and great effort Timothy (from Suffolk!! Now I have no excuse…) and Jordan too.

Thomas joins that illustrious club of youngsters who are now banned from entering the SOTA Challenge! (Previous winners cannot enter, although previous runners-up can).

So are we set for a head-to-head battle between Tim 2E0KEA and Jordan M3TMX in 2008? Or will new contenders arrive on the scene? I remember back in the Spring that Jordan looked a red hot favourite for the 2007 title, but it just shows you what can happen if new people burst onto the scene and get plenty of SOTA activating done.

For any youngster wanting an extra challenge, how about winning the SOTA Beams Challenge with a new record score? The highest winning score so far is Jimmy M3EYP with 84 in 2006.

Well done to all three this year - brilliant to see an upturn in entries for this event.

No doubt Jordan and Timothy will be battling it out for the honours in 2008, but who will join them? Do we have any other under 18s active in SOTA - or set to become so? Actually, our new M3 at the Macclesfield club - Liam M3ZRY - came up The Cloud G/SP-015 with us on Christmas Day morning for his SOTA debut. We will see if he makes a challenge too.

Any others out there?

Tom
