SOTA Activation Monte due Mani I/LO-192 JN45RV @20 April 2019

I had real fun and wonderful WX climbing the 1667m high Monte Due mani (I/LO-192 JN45RV).
Started climbing around 9:15 AM from the near pass named “Culmine San Pietro”, I reached the top of the summit in a couple of hours (ca 500 meter climb). On the top of the summit there is a nice little shelter and a big cross and, to be honest the summit was very crowded due to Easter Break and good WX.

I made 13 QSO , 7 CW QSO in 20m with three S2S with @IK2LEY, @IW2OBX and @IZ1UMJ and best DX Norway LB81G/P and 6 FM QSO in 2m (first FM activation for me).

My rig was FT817 with telescopic whips (one for 20m and the excellent RH 770 for 2m) and a bunch of random length radials on the ground for HF.

Great experience, I need to do more SOTA :sunglasses:

If I may please ask, what telescopic whip do you use for 20m?
Thanks for the report, Mark. M0NOM

Good Morning Mark,
the antenna is the kind of you can find on wimo, the AT-XX monoband portable antennas. Not the best performing, but easy to deploy on top of the summit. Hpe to catch you soon on air.
