Some Lift on 2m Today

Today, trying to find a clear frequency on 2m FM from G/SP-004 Shining Tor, was a nightmare. The French and Dutch repeaters were causing plenty of QRM. No problem working 300 mile+ contacts into Holland and Belgium on the 5/8 over 5/8 colinear.

Left the 2m band to work 12m, while monitoring the 2m Hand Held. Could hear Kent booming in on the rubber duck antenna.

Would have stayed to work the 2m band longer, if it hadn’t been for the bitterly cold wind which eventually forced me to go QRT.

Looks like another reasonable day in prospect tomorrow, maybe not quite so good for the North of England.

Plus the SFI has edged up to 176. A bit more and it would be worth looking for F2 on 6 metres!

I’m glad you had a good time.

Some of us have to work you know :frowning:

In reply to G8ADD:

Thanks Brian. To be honest, it’s been so long since I last used the 6m portable Antenna, I can’t even remember where it is. Better try and dig it out.

Something else to carry up G/SP-004

One person near Cheltenham worked some F2 into ZS on 6m on 18th November, as I recall the SFI was about the same level around then too.

Pretty good, Stewart, although I suppose it could have been late season TEP as it was a N/S path.
