Social distancing

Hey Matt,

Very good to hear that you are fine. Did you feel sick or what was the reason for the test? Because I think now things are getting more serious in good old OE.
Not sure that everyone in the social distancing mode already but we did what we cold. Ham club meeting cancelled until further notice. Tomorrow I will do home office. Monday we will see.

But getting some fresh air on a solo weekend activation is sheduled. Sunday wx looks promising.

73 Joe

I got a cold exactly 14 days after returning to OE via Treviso Airport. Although I am allowed out of quarantine, Iā€™m not allowed into schools, universities etc. So yes, Sunday is looking good for SOTA, as is Monday, Tuesday etc.
73 Matt

Our local government of EA2/NV announced this afternoon that all school and university classes will be cancelled for 2 weeks starting Monday. Later, some friends told me that the same countermeasure was announced by their respective local governments in EA1/AT and EA4 (Castilla la Mancha). EA4 (Madrid) already took this decision earlier, as well as EA1/LR and EA2 (Euskadi=Basque Country).
I canā€™t tell you how things are in EA6/MA but, in case they are not there yet, Iā€™m afraid they will likely be in the same situation sooner or later in a matter of few days.
Several employees have been sent home for tele-working and automotive industries like the one Iā€™m employed by are seriously considering the very likely scenario of having to stop their activity due to not receiving parts from their suppliers or due to purchase orders being cancelled by their customers.
The situation is worrying, particularly for people like me because Iā€™m receiving chemotheray and Iā€™m supposed to be inmunodepressed, so not at all a good situation to face such a threat.
Good luck to you and all.
73,

Guru

Stay out of public places as long as you can Guru. Really hope your treatment can continue unabated.

I spend most of my time at home. However Iā€™m not too worried about going out to the street for a walk or buying something as long as the store is not crowded, because I normally shouldnā€™t get too close to any people and I stay away of the cash, just paying with my credit card approaching it with my hand to the dataphone. The most worrying for me is my own family, because my wife and 3 kids may go out, get the virus and bring it home, where Iā€™ll probably get too close to them or very often touching the same things they touch.
Iā€™m washing my hands like a posessed nowadays. So far, so good.
Letā€™s hope things donā€™t get bad.
My backup plan is isolating myself in the house I own in the village 18Km out of the city, but Iā€™m still a bit reluctant to such measure.
73,

Guru

You are happy man, CONGRATS !!!
I wanted to make test but in our country nowadays it is impossoble if you just suspected :frowning:

Hi Phil, wish you all the best

In Poland for the moment National Park of Tatra mountains where the most of SP/TA summits are located is closed for visitors.

The situation is under fast development, we expect another coming strong measures.

73, Jarek

Thank God Iā€™ve got a couple of summits within walking distance.
73 Matt

At the moment here in Italy itā€™s even forbidden to exit from home to do sport, so no sota!!
You must carry a declaration that justify why you are walking outside.
This because if you have an accident during sport or sota activation you have to call help rescue ecc.

So Itā€™s not funny guys, other European country will face this soon, itā€™s not a yokeā€¦

So how can people buy food?

73 Joe

You are allowed to buy food and travel the shortest trip to the supermarket, possibly one people a time.
On the declaration you write ā€œdue to necessityā€ and you should have a receipt coming back!
You are also allowed to take the dog for a walk only for the time necessary to poop!
All our parks are closed, definitively you are confined at home ore work.
Probably the next step in a couple of days is NO WORK all at home.
We are killing our grandparents!!!

So Itā€™s not funny guys, other European country will face this soon, itā€™s not a yokeā€¦

F, OZ, SP, I, OK got this and closed schools, universities etc. In DL still nothing but discussions. Only two of 16 federal states closed schools*. :rage:
Even not all people who have online jobs like me (working for one of the major DL employers) are still not advised by their companies to stay in their home offices.

We are killing our grandparents!

Hopefully weā€™re not killing them but protecting them from the virus. Keep children away from the elderly. Do the daily shopping for them and leave the food at their door without entering. Donā€™t ask me how to proceed if your mother is as stubborn as mine.

*Edit: Theyā€™re coming slowly. Just heard it on the radio, itā€™s four federal states now that will close schools as from Monday. Also the Bundesliga cancelled all matches after Monday. The federal government in Berlin are still discussingā€¦

One thing about Deutschland, though ā€“ if the reporting numbers can be believed ā€“ is that the mortality rate there is very low compared to other places.

They also drink the most beer per capita of any country in the world. Coincidence?

I donā€™t know about you, but Iā€™m planning to hike summits and drink beer :beers:

Well, Iā€™m taking the time Saturday to stock up on malt so that I can brew on Sunday ā€œjust in case.ā€

Isnā€™t that the Czechs? Might be a good idea to have a Czech beer to immunise me against the virus.

Thatā€™ll be definitely good for your overall health. Cheers!

An excellent idea! I raise a toast to all my SOTA brothers and sisters. Stay healthy out there!

Here in the States the Governor of New Mexico just closed ALL the schools in the entire state for 3 weeks. As of last night we have 6 or 8 confirmed cases of Covid-19 here in NM. The U.S. President just suspended all travel from Europe for 30 days. Hopefully they can come up with a vaccine soon to help fight this.
Guruā€¦Good Luck with your Chemo treatments and be extra careful. I went through some nasty Radiation and Chemo 4 years ago. I would not wish that on anyone. I am still more than able to do SOTA so I am a ā€œHappy Camperā€.
73ā€™s everyone and take care.
