Slovenian HAM radio organization is organizing 3rd SOTA/POTA/FF… outdoor activators weekend from 12th to 13th of June on POTA location Smohor (SI-0691). Some 20 min. of walking is SOTA location Malic (SI/BI-009).
On 12th we will start our meeting with ARDF presentation, later we will present use of EZNEC SW for modelling antennae. All along the day we will make POTA/SOTA activations on different frequencies and test portable antennae.
During the first day we will also make POTA activations via QO-100 satellite, so QO-100 satellite users stay tuned.
As we will raise a tend outside it will be possible to make POTA activations from Smohor also during the evening and night, some HAMs might make evening/night SOTA activations also from Malic.
Also morning hours on 13th of June will be dedicated for early morning activations so DX hunters stay tuned.
On 13th of June we will discuss a variety of portable antennae suitable for outdoor activations. We will also perform antenna measurements with a drone that was presented on our yearly Conference. We will make a competition of the most unique and best portable antenna for HF and VHF/UHF categories. Winners in each category will receive a nice trophy.
Participant of the first day will receive a free pint of beer, participants of the second day will receive a free cup of coffee and a big slice of “apple strudel” (a sort of Slovenian apple pie) if they
come to the venue by 10.00 AM.
Smohor is accesible by a car and has a nice privately run hotel with very nice rooms, not to
mention very affordable price for sleeping and breakfast (approx. 30€/night). Therefore you’re most welcome to come on 12th of June and stay in a good HAM radio company until the next day.
