With immediate effect, until I can find out the level of fees to be charged on low value shipments to the USA, I will not be able to process any orders for USA delivery.
I am on vacation until mid September and cannot find the level of fees payable until I visit my local Post Office.
Orders already placed will be processed as normal and SOTA will absorb the extra cost
Enjoy your holiday. Thanks for your ongoing service to the SOTA community.
The Australian Post Office has suspended all postage and parcel post to the USA for items of value over $150. The suspension applies until a firm and clear and definite statement from the USA is forthcoming. There is apparent rejection of existing international arrangements by the Trump administration for prepaid postage and prepaid parcel delivery, and it is switching between different levels of new duties, fees and tariffs.
The APO hopes to resume soon once the US administration settles on its new tax.
I try to use the “Gifts” option for SOTA shipments which means that the vast majority get delivered without attracting any duties or VAT. Most countries have a duty free exemption which allows this; unfortunately this facility has been removed by the USA administration so fees are payable on all shipments except printed paper
Sorry, I know it’s off-topic, but I couldn’t resist: last January I had to pay import duties over a DXCC certificate (I know I know ) sent from ARRL HQ to Italy.
