Searching the reflector

I’ve been trying to use the reflector’s search facility to find
activation reports to help route planning for M1MAJ & my next SOTA
trip (Stirling area in April). However it appears that it does not
match on summit references in the form SS-019 which is the way most
people write them. I’ve tried putting it in quotes, but that doesn’t
seem to help. Is there some magic I’ve missed for searching on summit
reference?

I notice the same thing here Caroline. However, seraching for the summit name (in words) seems to work.

Hi Caroline

It seems to work fine if you put the full summit ref in ie GM/SS-019.

Have a great time.

But presumably this won’t match if the poster actually used a short reference, which of course many people do when the context is clear.

In reply to M1MAJ:

I see what you mean Martin, back to the drawing board.

That produces no results.

I’m the only (recorded) activator of that hill and I know I wrote about it I was suprised nothing came back. Searching for part of the name, Beinne, produced a link to the article.

And I only used SS-019 in that article.

Anyway wont the ‘-’ in SS-019 tell the search code to not include 019 in the results returned?

It looks like this is something for Jon’s list, in the meantime searching on a partial/full name will be the only way to get a result.

EDIT: Aha! Mike, you’ve found it doesn’t work either.

I think this is what’s known in the trade as ending up with egg on one’s face, doh!! I must read the post correctly in future!! I was looking in the summits ref page and not the reflector.

I guess we all make mistakes, that’s why they put rubbers on the end of pencils;-)
