Congratulations to Scott, K4FR on earning his Mountain Goat yesterday on W4T/SU-024 High Knob!! He is W4K’s third MG.
Many of us followed along with Scott’s Appalachian Trail treks the last two summers. His trail name is “Shoes” because he doesn’t wear any. The man is a force of nature, and has taught me and so many others a lot about the outdoors, hiking, ultralight backpacking, and more. He is also an amateur’s amateur: his knowledge and experience of radio and portable operating is extensive. I, for one, am a better activator because of it.
Congrats Scott, and welcome to the herd!! It was great working you from Indian Fort Mtn. when I was travelling through Lexington… and then meeting you at the W4V Campout! Woohooo… err… baaah!
Way to go my adventure buddy!!! Thanks for all the summits you’ve gotten me to climb and I’m excited for many more! It’s been awesome to be with you on so many of your first 1000.
So glad you got that goat!

Wow! I have once met a guy walking barefoot in Eryri, high on Carnedd Llewelyn GW/NW-002. He seemed to be fine walking on the small rocks on the path. I’d have thought it was like walking of Lego bricks all the while!!!
I have enjoyed every step of the path, every summit, and every QSO. I am grateful for all the friends I have made along the way. It is an honor to be a part of the SOTA community!
