Having just reflashed the firmware on my LoRa Igate, I discovered I can view the received packets - maybe the new firmware (CA2RXU). Not sure I could do this before on the old firmware. TBH, probably never really looked.
Anyways. What is good / Bad in terms of RSSI vs SNR?
My Igate
Maybe this is down the the choice of antenna. I am currently running a antenna indoors, resting on a cupboard with the LilyGo mounted off the bottom of the antenna
Cheers

RSSI stands for receive signal strength indicator. An absolute measurement of a received signal, usually in dbm.
SNR is signal to noise ratio, in db.
Say you’re receiving a signal at -100dbm and your background noise is -110dbm then your SNR is 10db. You can demodulate the signal. Now the background noise increases to -80dbm, signal strength stays the same but your SNR is -20db, Ugg no good.
Hope this helps
Thanks Paul. I had discovered the syslog setting - after I saw the link to the syslog in the CA2RXU config page.
When I get some time, I may look at getting a better antenna setup for LoRA APRS rather than a discone scanner antenna.
@WB2PHL Thanks for the info. RSSI/SNR is not something I have really looked into before.
