Rogue Skimmer - Beware RBNGate QRGs

Please note that the Skimmer at LA5EKA is not reporting the correct frequency on 20 metres.

This has led to a few incorrect spots that I’ve noticed in the last hour.
Check who the spotter is before giving up your search for activators!

In reply to G4ISJ:

Hi Pete;

I have noticed the same problem for at least the last week, I have been using my SDR to find the correct QRG’s.

Has anyone considered mailing LA5EKA to advise him of the issue?

Done.

In reply to G3XQE:
Yes I have done (too)!

Should have said that in the original email.

The warning however still applies.

I’ve had a reply from Gisle, LA5EKA.

Unfortunately Sunday is the earliest he’ll be able to look at this.
Suggest checking RBN directly for correct QRG if RBNgate uses LA5EKA spot and doesn’t appear to align with any activator activity!

Pete

Just email Eric KU6J and ask him to black list LA5EKA spots. This is an easy fix and needs to be done occasionally.

In reply to G4ISJ:

In addition at 18:35z the skimmer RN3A claims that I was sending on 14.067 CW, even when my radio and my antenna was already deeply buried in my rucksack on my way home.

Really strange!

In reply to N1EU:
Just an observation - but was the RBNgate facility down between 1400 and 1930 today? Noticed I was getting spotted by the RBN but not on SW.

In reply to M1EYP:

Hi Tom,

It does look that way, there were no RBN spots on SOTAwatch between those times.

Thanks for the QSO earlier
