RNLI SOS Week

Hi all

The MT have sanctioned our particpation in this event.

It takes place from the 19th - 25th January 2008. Organized by the RNLI and Southport and District ARC with Derek Hughes/G7LFC as one of the organisers. He tells me he is a ‘dormant activator’!

The purpose is to obtain sponsorship for each contact made during the week and my thoughts are that this should include both activators and chasers.

The funds raised are to pay for a volunteer to undergo training and the ARC hope to raise £1400 this year which is the sum required for 1 volunteer. I believe this could easily be beaten.

Would interested participants please register on the site putting the suffix /SOTA after their call. This way we will obtain feedback on all monies raised. We would welcome thoughts on the various ways we could promote this event.

Hi all

Excuse me for not allowing this one to drop into the reflector scree.

The RNLI do such a fantastic job and, whilst not directly SOTA related, surely we can come up with, say, 1p per contact during this week to show our gratitude.

All it requires is about 10 of us to join in and we could make such a difference.
