Earlier today Brian, Andy FMF posted the following,
“Hey Morgan, you need to change your password, becasue your Dad has been banned from this reflector and he is making inflamatory comments using your account”
I was replying to it and it was deleted, but Barry 2E0PXW took a screen grab of it, and also Mick PVA saw it too and told my Dad, he was furious about it.

PS Hi Jimmy, we are not doing it for SOTA, we are taking an old route to Scawfell summit with Richard our friend from Wasdale Mountain Rescue, and doing it just for the walk when we stay at the Bower House Inn at Eskdale Green, which belongs to our family and me and my cousin Olly are doing the walk with our Dads.

Just like to point out that our activation of Swinside was with full permission of the landowner and we have respected his wishes in keeping his details private. Can’t speak for the other three.

I’m not really bothered either way about this but all this discussion has told me is to keep away from Hope and Swinside (and I’m sure there is at least another one ).
Maybe we should change the rules so that any activation can only be valid if it can take place from open access land or a PROW - then there will be no question as to whether permission was obtained or not… not open access to all then no valid activation - seems fair to me .
Good point, but are there any other summits that we need to get permission to climb, is there a list anywhere or if not could someone make a list perhaps ?
In reply to G8HXE:
The original rules of SOTA (with the tweaks applied for clarity) were, and still should be, fair. Access is covered by the code of practice.
Some, like myself, wanted a change to 100m prominence but were turned down.
I was not too disappointed by that, as it set a standard for ALL.
Then to appease aggrieved associations the MT allowed 100m for SOME. This caused, and is still causing, much ill feeling and resentment.
moral - don’t fix it if it aint broke

(really got the HUMP)
ps can we stop this constant accuse/snipe syndrome on the reflector???
EDIT - this message was quoted verbatim on another forum. When I complained I was banned without explanation !
I agree with Roger above, can we stop all this “bun fighting”. Its getting silly and embarrassing.
Better still, lets get rid of the reflector completely as it is beginning to serve little use and I feel does not entice any new potential participants to stay.
Leave the website with just the Spot and Alert system, that way no-one can be misunderstood/accused/offended/banned/etc/etc/etc.
Lets get on with this great hobby.

P.S. Sorry, getting off my soapbox now and crawling back into the dark corner!
Or move it from the spots/alerts pages so you have to think before
accessing it.
I seem to recall this suggestion being made several times in the past Roger. I agree that’s where it belongs - maybe it would make more room for extension of the spots and alerts to overcome the issues that arise when there’s a lot of activity. Anyone else agree?
Its gone a bit off subject but I would prefer to see the forum elsewhere, less data to download on the mobile phone.
Back on the subject of we know what… Brian do you not fancy taking up the offer of meeting the farmer to put this to bed once and for all. Would be a great way of having a member of the MT hear the real facts…
If getting there is a problem, I would be happy to drive…
