Request for manual cleanup on HL/JJ-001 (Silent Key logs & broken links)

Hello SOTA Management Team and Database Managers,

I am writing to request a manual database correction regarding HL/JJ-001 (Hallasan) activation logs.

As previously known, Hallasan (HL/JJ-001) is strictly designated as a Special Protection Area by the South Korean government, where hiking and amateur radio operations are completely prohibited by law.

Recently, we made a collective effort to clean up this data. Every single living activator who had uploaded logs for this summit—including both Korean operators and the foreign operator (Jason)—has now voluntarily deleted their records after realizing the legal and environmental violations.

Currently, the only remaining invalid logs on this summit belong to Silent Keys (deceased operators) who cannot manage their accounts anymore:

  • Callsign: HL2OLP/4
    • Activation Date: 24 Sep 2011
  • Callsign: HL3ANE
    • Activation Dates: 20 Jan 2018, 19 Jan 2019

I must directly request the SOTA DB Administration Team to manually remove these final remaining records.

Completing this cleanup will completely restore the integrity of the SOTA program for this restricted summit and show respect for local environmental laws.

[ADDITIONAL ISSUE: Broken Resource Links]

In addition to the invalid logs, there is another issue under the “Resources” section on the same HL/JJ-001 summit page.

There are three external links/articles currently listed:

1. 20130726 6K5XZE Activation report

2. 20150203 6K5XZE Activation report

3. Mountain Information

All of these links are completely broken (dead links). Clicking them only leads to a “Page does not exist” error, providing absolutely no useful information or help to the SOTA community. I kindly ask the SOTA Technical/Database Team to manually remove these 3 useless links as well from the resources section.

Thank you very much for your time and continued support.

Best regards, Jiho Kim/DS5SQS

Jiho please ask for these things in only ONE place. Use the Contact MT form so that it ends in front of all the MT. There is no guarantee items like this on the general reflector will be read by the MT in a timely manner.

If you continue to ask multiple times in multiple places then the MT will develop “HL/DS fatigue” which you will find is counter-productive. Also remember there is a 9hr time difference to the UK, 12hrs to Western USA and only 1hr to Eastern Australia. Because of these time delays you should always allow 24hrs before anyone reads your request. From there the request is triaged and queued and again if the future of mankind does not depend on immediate action, it may not be worked on for some time whilst other jobs are completed.

Finally, we are aware that there have been and still are problems in the administration of the HL association. We don’t need informing of this in every message, we do know.

Your cooperation will be appreciated greatly.
