Request for Access to SOTA SSO

Dear SOTA team,

My name is Alberto, amateur radio operator EA3GNU. I’m currently developing a community platform that allows SOTA activators to upload photos and videos of their activations in real-time.

I’m writing to kindly request access to the SOTA Single Sign-On (SSO) system as a third-party application, so I can allow authenticated users to manage their uploaded media (e.g., edit or delete photos) securely, and also access activation logs.

The integration would only require basic user identification (e.g., callsign), and I would be happy to follow any guidelines, scopes, or limitations you set.

If access is possible, I’d need:

  • A client_id and client_secret
  • Redirection URI

Please let me know if this is feasible, or if there’s a preferred process to apply for SSO integration.

I remember when I implemented this for the sotamaps site a few years ago. It wasn’t exactly easy, and I had to do a lot of searching online to try to understand the protocol and how to interact with the SSO system. I ended up with a patchwork system that (eventually!) worked.

You need to contact Andrew @VK3ARR - he’s the SSO guru at SOTA.
