RBN - spotting wrong QRG

Just noticed , whilst sitting on the top of GW/MW-002, that RBN is not spotting the correct frequency on 7 MHz. Seems to beat out 6 kHz low!

In reply to G4ISJ:
I guess that is down to the individual receive skimmer that reported up to RBN, from where RBNGate pulls its information…

I had a RBNGate spot a couple of weeks ago with an innaccurate sending speed, which was curious but much less significant!

The wrong spots are all from ON6ZQ

Hmmm… ON6ZQ does seem to be reporting frequencies that don’t match with other skimmers, and the difference seems to be quite random:

Eric KU6J can blacklist ON6ZQ spots from RBNGate

Ooops…

I was hoping to help by leaving a skimmer ON all day on 40m, but I realize I am just creating trouble. Sorry for the inconvenience.

The skimmer is now turned off.

I suspect the cause is related to the IF frequency settings in PowerSDR (Flex 1500) and/or in CWSkimmer.

I’ll try to find out and will not not feed RBN again before it is fixed.

Should someone have a hint as what the correct settings should be, I would be of course very interested to know.

Sorry again for the trouble.

Sorry again for the trouble.

Those of us who use the skimmers are very grateful to people like you who run them. I hope you can get this resolved soon and get your skimmer back on air.

Hi Christophe,

I agree with Andy’s comment. Thank you for being part of RBN, it is really useful, and good luck with resolving the problem.

Indeed. Sites like RBN and WSPRNet rely on volunteers feeding them information, and without that network of listeners they wouldn’t work. You were hearing some stations other listeners had missed, so thanks, and I hope you can figure out the problem soon.

In reply to ON6ZQ:

I think I have got the settings right now. My skimmer reports the same frequency as the other stations on RBN (http://www.reversebeacon.net).

Should you still notice a problem, please let me know.
