I headed up to G/SC-005 (again) to:
1- Be 100% sure I no longer have modulation/audio/RFI problems.
2- Leave my pen/pad at home so that I had no choice but to use Ham2k/Polo.
3- Bag a new S2S (having seen @G5OLD’s alert).
No photos or walking route description today, given I’ve recently been here.
A quick S2S with Tim on 40m led me to believe the conditions weren’t great - there was an awful lot of noise on the band. I had to work hard to listen.
Switching to 20m, I had 18 QSOs on 20m, and finally 10 QSOs on 10m.
The good news is that:
1- There were no complaints about my audio/modulation. The choke works.
2- Using my phone to log QSOs worked well, once I’d figured it out. I might upgrade to a phone with a bigger screen in future.
3- We managed a S2S despite the conditions.
Something odd on SOTA database - one of the stations appears in a completely different country? See the far right of this screen shot:
Compared to the Ham2k/Polo map:
Regardless, it was a great afternoon.
