Hi Andrew,
I dread to think how many Marilyns there are in South America.
Poor Jim G0CQJ, must have his head in his hands
Nice thought though, VK in the morning, W and PY in the afternoon.
I must get a bigger battery!

Not many. Names like Mariana, Juliana, Larissa, Carmen and Isobella are more popular!

Oh ye of the wise crack! … but you missed the callsign error in Mike’s post, or has Jim actually been demoted from a K to a J?

I only read the 1st line, or as the yoof of today say TL;DR.
I think Mike will be in for a treat if and when the various South American countries get active. The problem is vast number of summits that need checking and verifying that they meet the specs of the program. I think daunting is a more accurate description for the number of potential summits.
And then there’s Alaska.
And “the stans”… Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Afghanistan, Pakistan…

In reply to MM0FMF:
Yes, a major undertaking indeed! Maybe a more restrictive prominence rule would be one way of reducing the number of summits, but the effect that would have in respect of activators being able to access the summits would need to be carefully assessed. I somehow think there are not that many drive-ons in Brazil, let alone the frozen wasteland of Alaska, although on some of those summits you may be able to go most of the way by motorised sled. Of course we could have the reindeer equivalent of a SOTA Goat.

This should keep the Andes Chasers happy, Andy!
The highest elevation of the Andes Mountain is 22,841 feet with average height being 13,000 feet. The Andes Mountains is the longest exposed mountain range in the world. It is 4,300 miles long.
Dunno how many would qualify for SOTA status, but chasing them all s2s would be an interesting challenge

Put it down to a senior moment, Gerald!
