Here at SOTA we have 150 HB9 SOTA participants using bluewin.ch for their email. Unfortunately, bluewin.ch seems to be a very poor email provider as most emails from Barry GM4TOE regarding awards and merchandies get bounced back. I have had the same problems emailing hams using bluewin.ch email addresses.
Guys, bluewin.ch DOES NOT WORK PROPERLY. Perfectly valid emails are not getting delivered to the people paying for an email service.
If you use bluewin.ch to contact the MT then we will reply but you may not get our response. Blame your provider. You may want to consider getting a free Hotmail (Office365) or Gmail account as they will work much better.
None usually. What happens is either the emails are silently discarded and the user never even knows their mail has not been delivered. Or on a few times the sender gets a bounce message saying the mail cannot be delivered suggesting maybe it’s spam.
bluewin,ch is not the only company to do this. ARRL, Rogers, BTinternet, VirginMedia, yahoo.com and many, many more do it.
The worst offenders are “private” domains like “@barry.com” where the message is rerouted or sometimes where the domain spam filter is just too enthusiatic and the sota awards email address needs to be whitelisted
As a former employee in the Swisscom R&D and network areas, I am somewhat surprised by your very general message.
I very much hope that Swisscom does not take legal action against you for these generalizing and defamatory statements.
Well maybe they should fix it and not sue. You send people emails, they don’t get them, they don’t find them in spam/junk folders, the sender doesn’t get a bounce or fail message.
So the sender sees the message as delivered. The recipient doesn’t get any mail. Sounds like a perfect description of DOES NOT WORK.
Unknown mailbox, mailbox full, mailbox suspended for , server unavailable, temporary disabled. Error messages: we would like some. But you get silence most of the time.
And bluewin.ch are just one of many. But not as bad as naver.com out in Korea.
