Greater Vancouver (VE7/GV-010) summit today. S-2-S QSO with AC1Z/VE7 (on VE7/CL-020). Short discussion on where to add the VE7 to your callsign? Should it be a prefix or should it be a suffix? I could look up the regs but it feels easier to ask reflector!
Furthest QSO was 8236.4Km on 20m SSB with Chris (F4WBN); life’s too short for QRP (4.7 watts)!
“There is no need for paperwork or other formalities when exchanging visits between Canada and the US. Under the terms of the agreement, the visitor must identify using his or her call sign followed by a call area suffix, e.g., VE3FRV/W9 or N9CFX/VE3.”
American and Canadian licence holders use a suffix as that is what the agreement between US and Canada says. For CEPT operation, which is your case, it is ALWAYS a prefix. And you don’t need to look it up on here because it will be in the CEPT document you are carrying with you along with your licence.
