Possible new SOTA product

At the GM Microwave Round Table, Barry passed this example of a potential new product to me, made so he can try and remember who am I this week

This a shiny keyring which is laser engraved with your call, name and the SOTA logo. The pictures show a CR2032 cell for size.

If there is enough interest we’ll be offering these in the SOTA shop.

Hi Andy @MM0FMF @GM4LLD

You can double production with all these changes to the "G" call's

I can sign for one :+1:

I’d have one of those

Cheers,

Denis

I was asked on air yesterday if I was still keeping my old callsign !

I already have a lot of merchandise with MM7MOX on it so I might stick with it for a while yet.

One of these might be good to add to the collection though.

I will work out what the price would be - below £5 certainly

Bonus points, it can go on my anonymous looking brown drybag so that some other confused tramper can wonder what ZL1VS and SOTA might mean

So was I! It seems the default move is to change it for a new (old😜)one.

I worked a G5 on 2m FM today from G/NP-028. I didn’t recognise the callsign so I asked if he had just changed it. Apparently he had always had it. Hope I didn’t offend him too much…

Maybe his first and only but he’s not had it for that long though.

Maybe add some more whitespace around the logo and / or the call in case people want to fit dog tag silencers?

Not knowing about dogtag silencers I had to have a look!!

Now I will have to buy one so I can scale the etching - if that’s what folk want.

I can announce that the SOTA shop (sota-shop.co.uk) now has 4 new items to help crowbar your wallets:

The personalised stainless steel keyring

A variant of that keyring to allow use of a “silencer”

3D printed SOTA logo coaster

3D printed tree hanging (for those of you who have Christmas trees at this time of year!):

How about some SOTA mugs?
I just quickly knocked up this example on Vistaprint.

We did supply SOTA branded mugs some time ago and I had to sell them at less than cost price to clear space for other stock!

Any thoughts on this?

My first thought was yes, I’d love one. But then I realised we have a cupboard full of mugs, half of which we never use. So no, I probably wouldn’t order one.

Same the world over. Everyone has at least one mug too that is about 45 years old (usually some sort of event, e.g. España '82) that’s been dishwashered to within an inch of it’s life.

Nobody has the heart to throw said mug(s) out though, and thus the world turns…

I’d be keen on a mug….or better…flask for hot coffee while on the hike.
