Yes, that was it!
Also High Park for an even easier, but quite boring walk!
It depends on how many years since you went down the Burway. It was much scarier when I was growing up, the big passing places didn’t exist then. They also built a little berm on the edge to stop you sliding off in the ice
The only thing that I don’t like about the Burway is the idiot tourists going the other way!
I did it going up in 2009 or 2010. I thought it was a little hairy but hey, there was an easy 2 points at the top and I was with Brian G4ZRP (sk) and I didn’t want to look like a wimp! Anyway, that was before an incident with lots of ice when going to activate White Coomb GM/SS-030. I ended up trying to reverse down a steep, slightly icy, narrow single track road with a silly drop one side and a ditch the other. I managed to slip into the ditch and it’s only due to having a form of 4WD (Honda CR-V RT4WD) that I was able to rock back and forth and eventually climb out. Ever since then I have been very circumspect about such roads and my need to drive on them.
Why I had to reverse down the hill. I got to about 50m behind that car on the bend and stopped as I could go no further and reversed back.
Not everyone was so lucky that day.
I don’t find the Burway scary nowadays, but I still have memories of riding my newish 125cc 2-stroke bike down the bank from the gliding club to Asterton in 1977. It was summer, but the whole surface was covered in loose scree rubble and it seemed impossible to use the front brake without courting disaster. So I went the whole way down trailing the rear brake and hoping not to start sliding too much… I made it but it was sweaty palm time.

Hard to say-probably pre-children, so 1970s or 1980s at best. The only bit I really don’t like the look of is the blind bend near the top, otherwise going up doesn’t look too desparate having looked at Youtube clips. I still think I’ll stick to Plan A. 73 all.
I would say they made the major improvements in early 2000s. The worst thing for me is the traffic on a sunny day! I wouldn’t drive up in the ice or snow though!
