Today I tried to get to a couple new summits for my 500th activation but no luck accessing. Plan C was Schonchin Butte, one of my favorite lookout summits due to its uniqueness. Located in the Lava Beds NM, CA, Schonchin is one of many volcanic cones in the basin. The lookout it built on and with the rock of the cinder plug. Not great setup today with wind blowing everything down repetitively, but got it done! Also included a couple pics of “The Penisula” that was closed to public access. Now on to the next 500!
