Took the FT-817ND on a trip out up Pike of Blisco G/LD-024 this evening. Wasn’t really planning an activation as I was with my wife and eldest daughter. The westerly wind was somewhat bitter so I knew radio time would be limited.
In the end I got a few contacts, of note at least one each from England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales. Not bad for 2.5 watts on the internal battery, all stations were 59 with me. I used a Spectrum Communications Slim-J antenna on a fishing pole at about 4m (primarily to get out of the wind!)
