Pica d´Estats EA3/LL-001 and 3 more summits

This adventure will take us to Alberto EA3GNU and me, EA3HIG to make a 2 days trekking arround Vallferrera and Baborte valleys, for activate 4 Summits, (3 of them never activated).

adventure starts at 6 in the morning, friday 11 of september, (holiday day of catalonia), 3 hours aprox of car, to arrive Vallferrera valey, starts walking arround 9:30h.

we gain altitude, in a very beutiful valley, and meet up whit the free shelter of Baborte

aprox at 12h local, we reach the Baborte hillock, and start the complicated climb to our first summit, Pedres blanques EA3/LL-075 2765m.

Afterwards, it was just a matter of descending to the pass and then ascending about 300m more to the peak of Baborte EA3/LL-012 2932m.

After this, we went down to Lake Sotllo 2500m, where we would spend the night in the tents at temperatures of 3 degrees!!

Quite early we started our second day, now ascending through the Vallferrera valley, to the busy roof of Catalonia la Pica de estats EA3/LL-001 3142m (first we visit Verdaguer, 3125m no sota summit), A steep ridge entertained us

Afterwards, we went down to the pass, and then we climbed up to the summit, our last goal of the day. Sotllo EA3/LL-002 3071m

We finished the day descending through Vallferrera, passing by its refuge, to end the hike and go back home, very happy about the feat.

Pica d’estat is always so crowded ! Since it’s mostly Spanish people up there , I guess this summit is something special in Spain ? In France it’s quite unknown that’s why I’m surprised.

Hello F4LEK, and thankyou for chase us, and your inspiring trips and reports.
It really is quite a popular peak in Catalonia, and it happened to be Catalonia’s holiday, September 11th, and there’s a strong tradition of celebrating it on the highest peak in Catalonia, the Pica d’Estats. It was really complicated to install the antenna up there with so many people, but in the end we found a spot, a bit exposed, that with some imagination we managed to install the EFHW using the fishing rod…
I hope to hear from you in the next adventures, a big 73

Congratulations Juanjo and Alberto, for another long multi hike, not at my reach.

Seems a great adventure with a good planning, carrying tents, water and food, appart from the radio gear. It has to be a challenge to get all that stuff and perform this long trek, in good company.

Please keep showing your adventures and these nice landscape.

Good luck and take care, un abrazo!
