If anyone starts listening to ‘As Slow As Possible’ by John Cage then they’ll never get anything done for the rest of their life…or even hear how it finishes!
The song started being played in 2001 and is due to finish in the year 2640 (not sure of the exact date though, just in case anyone is planning on being cryogenically frozen and thawed out to catch the end of it 
).
Good news is that the next chord is due to be played on August 5th this year. The last note played was about 2 years ago. Usually they live stream the event as tickets to the ‘concert’ are near impossible to get hold of.

Maybe its me, I never understood the people who go to such events and and then bleat on about how wonderful an experience it was or sit/stand in absolute awe.
At least the organ one is marginally better than that drum guy that keeps popping up on various feeds. The one who looks a bit like animal from the muppets but has less talent and sense of rythm. Its like when I raided the pots and pans from my mums cupboard when I was 4 years old. Back then, I didnt know there was money to be made from it else my life could have taken a whole different turn.
Maybe it is just me.

All the arts need an avante-garde or there would be no progress, but any such movement attracts its lunatic fringe of talentless extraverts and undiscriminating fashionistas! I suspect that Cage models himself on the more outre extravagances of Eric Satie - who at least had some talent!

I have now formally retired from school teaching.
The outcome of that is that I’ve never been busier as a pro session musician, musical director and arranger/orchestrator!
I suspect some people are just not cut out for retirement, and I suspect I’m one of those!

Judith Chalmers has left this mortal coil at age 90, from Gate 12 and is currently on the way to the Pearly Gates on a full board package God bless her.
Where Michael Palin is possibly the Alan Whicker successor, Judith Chalmers was in a league of her own. Always watched Wish You Were Here?, better than watching 327 pages of deals on Teletext and forgetting to press HOLD on the page you wanted!

Sadly off-topic as she was not somebody from my youth. Never watched her or her holiday programs. I didn’t realise she was so old though. I guess we tend to remember TV/ film people as the age of their last program.

Brilliantly appropriate! I was a fan of the program at the time but it lost its sparkle after her.

Don’t scoff. I was 12 and a hormonal pre-teen when Total Eclipse of the Heart made UK number 1. It sold 13 million copies and made Jim Steinmann a rich man because he wrote it.
I guess it will be No.1 again this week thanks to streaming.
