Nine tops on the way to Glen Feshie

That could have been at least three more if you’d taken a handheld whilst out cycling near Elgin on Saturday.

Andy, Well done for getting the first one in the bag! Look forward to hearing of some of your future adventures.

Ha, must do better next time! :grinning: I managed to be less precise than that when I activated Beinn Dubhchraig and Ben Oss the other week.

Many thanks for another great report Fraser. There are certainly some super views there to feast our eyes on. Needless to say I will not be emulating any part of your round, nor could I ever have. The more I read your reports, the more I’m convinced that you are bionic. :grinning:

Naturally, as usual, I managed to be far from a radio while you were out, so managed zero chases. Maybe next time.

Brilliant expedition. Even without the radio it would be great.
Thanks for the write up.

I do think my Anytone will fit in a jersey pocket, APRS track my rides instead of my Wahoo & Strava while I’m at it.

Gerald, I quite fancy doing Tranters Round next year, or some variation of it. I expect you to be by your radio for the duration.

With fuel prices the way they are it makes economical sense to hibernate for a while and then go and knock off half of the GM/WS big ones in one journey.

I’ve done that. Only thing, once I’m round the corner (towards Ballater) from my digipeater, no more tracking. It works well in Aberdeen though.

Sounds like a plan, but you will need to make sure you are fully charged before setting out… and I’m not talking of the batteries for the rig. :grinning:

Maybe I can book a cottage in the middle of your round to be guaranteed a chase… not as though I will ever be capable of activating many (if any) of those for the Complete. :joy:

Those South of the border could warm up by tackling the Welsh 14/3000s involving six or seven SOTA summits depending on the route. Its been done in 4 hours 20 minutes so there would be plenty of time for activating!

Blimey, Fraser, that was a bit of an epic! We drove through Cock Bridge in June when on holiday, so I appreciate the sort of country you were on. Thanks for a great report & pics.

Hope your stay in CT land is going well, I couldn’t hear you today though!

Hi John, Yes, it starts getting a bit lumpy at Cock Bridge. I think the walk up Brown Cow Hill is less of a grade than the drive you would have taken up to the lecht in your car!

We’ve been here on Madeira a week already. Hired a car this week and will be hopefully be knocking off a few of the easier ones over the next couple of days. Nothing too serious, as I’m here for a rest allegedly.

activating CT3/MI-004 this afternoon. Just like Scotland, with cloud, rain and then sunshine over a 20 minute period

Brian, I was thinking of a two or three day trip, taking in as many tops as sensible. I think the only rule is that a round must start and finish in Glen Nevis, which probably means doing counter-clockwise and leaving Ben Nevis until last. That would also allow some nice scrambling up to Carn Mor Dearg and then the CMD arete.

Cheers Karl, I was delighted to hear your voice on a couple of occasions in particular.

  1. when it was raining on top of Beinn a’Bhuird.

  2. When getting eaten my midges on my final summit. You were the fourth contact, qualifying the summit for me and meaning the trip objective was 100% achieved. 72 points for me and another 10 for you!

Cheers, Frasee

Lovely report with stunning photos, the Highlands are one of my favourite places and I hope to getting a few summits in the bag next time I visit.
Whenever I drink from a stream I always think about what may be in the water further up, I think I need to get myself a filter…

I had my GoPro with me on this trip. It’s taken me a long time to find the time to edit the footage.

Here is part 2 of 3. Much better weather in this part, which takes me across the crossroads of the Cairngorms.

Finally, the concluding part of this epic! The final rwo summits, and a wonderful tramp across the highest plateau in the UK. I completed this trip in August, so it is already a memory.
