Anyone doing any summits under the new moon might be good for climbing I think its full on the 23rd of June. Before you question my sanity I Climbed vk5/se001 during the last full moon at 2.30 am local time didn’t need a torch at all. Made naff all qsos until the sun came up but had the hill to myself .

Ah! I thought you meant the extra pull from the (closer) moon’s gravity would make the ascent easier! :o)

Here you’re more likely to get benefit from that than from any extra light it might shed, 'cos it’s bound to be completely clouded over if you actually need a clear sky!
Mind, in this neck of the woods you get more light when it’s cloudy from all London’s street lamps shining into the sky than you’d ever get from a full moon…

Not much use to us here on the topside! The full moon at this time of year is at its most southerly declination and doesn’t make that good a showing.

Then again, the sun’s almost rising before it’s properly set, so it’s not really bothering to get dark, either.

In reply to M0LEP: Not for a VK5 - mid winter there. HI
In reply to M0BKV:
Indeed, but there the full moon’s at its highest, too.

A little OT but thanks for my first VK chase the other morning on 20m CW from VK5/NE-058 Ian, the QSB was just letting me hear enough of your signal to make contact. As I don’t have a proper 20m antenna & the antenna I used is very noisy on that band I was very pleased indeed to be able to hear you
Out of interest, what power were you using & what was your antenna?
Thanks again & best 73,
