Thanks for the info, Gerald. All noted and I am already looking around scrap nylon bits for the mast support. Perhaps I can also figure out how to put a Yagi on my mast without a tripod. All after Xmas though !
Congratulations Alex on your first ever HF SOTA activation ! ![]()
I see you managed many 14MHz QSOs both in CW and SSB; quite a haul of SOTA HF QSOs. ![]()
Earlier on in December this year I also secured my first SOTA HF QSOs, this was from my activation of Beinn Lora: Activation : GM/WS-336 : Beinn Lora
For me I only managed 4 QSOs on 40m and 1 QSO on 20m; which I was more than happy with !
I look forward to catching you on a SOTA HF QSO sometime.

Cheers Peter! After five years of my VHF FM only activations which often turned in to a routine 5-7 QSOs, I was pleasantly surprised of 20m liveliness. Well, likely condx were favourable on the day. However, I also was runnning 20W for both CW/SSB and at the second summit cranked up to full 100W on SSB. My dipole is still under āadjustment neededā status. Once I get it settled for 20m Iāll try to link it to other bands like 30/40m ā¦
I suppose my further efforts are now to be geared towards more portable HF hands on, which I see captivating.
BTW, I like your reporting style! Very informative and interesting to read through.
