We’ve got a nice sunny day today and Ignacio EA2BD proposed me through whatsapp this morning for a joint activation of this easy 2 points summit not far to the SouthEast of Pamplona.

I accepted very pleased and out we went a few minutes before local noon.
We arrived in a few minutes to the village of Lakidain, we drove a few hundred meters on a dirt road until we found a steel cable crossing the road and a sign informing that only authorised vehicles were permitted beyond that point. So we parked the car at the side of the dirt road and started the hike. This was the dirt road aspect as we started the walk.

Llegamos en pocos minutos al pueblo de Lakidain, recorrimos en coche unos pocos cientos de metros por una pista de tierra y piedras hasta que encontramos un cable de acero atravesando la pista y una señal informando de que solo vehículos autorizados estaban permitidos más allá de ese punto. Así que aparcamos el coche al lado de la pista y empezamos la subida. Este era el aspecto de la pista al empezar la subida.
Later we left the dirt road and entered into a mountain track which led us to this very nice forest:

After about 20 minutes hiking, the forest ended into an open field with the summit and the castle on top at sight:

Views to the NorthEast were superb, with the highest Pyrenees mountains covered by snow:

We splitted to opposed sides of the summit in order to minimise interferences from each other. Ignacio set up at the Western side of the summit and I did it at the Eastern side.

Before splitting, we agreed that Ignacio would start on 20m, so I would do it on 30m.

My activation went like this:

30m CW: 7 QSOs in 6 minutes. After about 5 minutes CQing without response, I QSYed.

17m CW: 3 QSOs in 8 minutes, 2 of which were DX with the USA. After a number of unresponded CQ calls, I QSYed to 40m CW, but I found Ignacio working there, so I went to 20m CW.

20m CW: 16 QSOs in 19 minutes, 3 of which were DX with the USA.
At 12h59z I went QRT because it was time for us to descend and get back home.

17m CW: 3 QSOs en 8 minutos, 2 de los cuales fueron DX con los EE.UU. Tras unas llamadas CQ sin respuesta, hice a 40m CW, pero me encontré a Ignacio trabajando allí, así que fui a 20m CW.

20m CW: 16 QSOs en 19 minutos, 3 de los cuales fueron DX con los EE.UU.
A las 12h59z quedé QRT porque era ya hora de que bajáramos y regresáramos a casa.
All in all, 26 QSOs, 5 of which were DX with the USA.

Descent was pleasant and uneventfully we got home safe and sound in time for lunch after a very nice time out in the mountain.
