Mountain Hunter Global

On February 27, 2014 I worked my first SOTA which was DF2GN/P on DM/BW-228 Hummelsberg on 10m. I was limited to only hunting on 10m with a Technician license up until March 13, 2021 when I finally upgraded to my General license. That upgrade has allowed me to hunt many more SOTA’s on various bands. Today on June 30, 2022 I worked my 2nd summit in Brazil thanks to PY2TTN who was on PY2/MC-013 Pico do Urubu, ironically on 10m earning me my 50th Association and the Mountain Hunter Global Award. No doubt my most memorable SOTA was working VK1NAM from VK1/AC-037 Mt. Taylor on 10m on January 30, 2015. I just wanted to thank all the activators I have worked over the past 8 years to get me to this level. I really appreciate all the hard work & effort you all put into bringing so many different summits to the air. All my hunting is done on SSB with no more then 100 watts in my mobile using a ham stick or 100 watts and a 124 foot end fed at my house.

Congratulations Brian. I had 2 S2S with Klaus DF2GN/P. I think he only ever operated from a summit or portable he had too much qrn at his house. Not sure if he is still around on the radio. Hope to hear from you sometime when I am out on summits.
Regards.

Hello Brian,
Many thanks to you for all your chasing, from an activator on the hills.
I checked my log and was surprised to find we had talked (SSB) 5 times over the years, twice on10m in 2016, and three times on 20m more recently.

Keep chasing!

Thanks for all the great SOTA contacts Ian. It’s been a real fun journey getting to 50 associations & 5 continents. Just need to work Asia which seems to be impossible but I will never give up.
