Mount Lofty activation, VK5/SE-005

Hi all,

On Saturday evening (8th March), myself and my good friend Larry VK5LY went up to Mount Lofty summit VK5/ SE-005 and activated the summit. It is also within the Cleland Conservation Park, so it qualifies for the VK5 National & Conservation Parks Award.

Larry & his wife Di were staying with us for 2 nights (they live 200 km away), as we had a South Australian SOTA & Parks Award symposium on Sunday at my local radio club.

Larry and I just wanted to say thank you to all the DX from Europe, the UK, & USA that called us. We had a lot of fun. We both managed our first ever DX S2S contacts. Two in fact. The first was with Klaus DF2GN who was a genuine 5/9. And the second was with Mike 2E0YYY who had a lovely 5/6 signal to Mt Lofty.

We still had stations calling from Europe whilst we were pulling the antenna down. Sadly we had to get home to keep our wives happy.

I have placed a blog entry on my Wordpress site for those that might be interested……

Best 73 everyone,

Paul,
VK5PAS.
