Mount Keen GM/ES-014

Aye, indeed… mine’s a Halfords cheapie, a good 25 years old, weighs a ton by comparison to modern bikes and only has 10 gears. I didn’t have time to service it before the outing as it wasn’t at my main abode during lockdown. I had to play about with the rear brake on the ascent as it was binding and the bearings appeared to be in some need of some lubrication, but even so overall it was considerably faster than walking. The 7.5km descent took me a little over half an hour including a couple of stops to take some photos.

The path from the south is pretty reasonable on the bike up to the Queens Well. There are some stretches with large white cobblestone which are not great to cycle through.
I have only walked beyond that point a few times before I was an amateur when Munro bagging. I might have a wee blast on the gravel bike in a few weeks

I love my gravel bike. Glad I didn’t take it up Mount Keen though. :joy:
