Firstly, an apology to the Chasers I left hanging on yesterday on 40M cw while I was on Ballydavid Head. I was approached by an old chap who enquired if I was filming and what I thought would be a 5 minute chat turned out to 40 minutes of minding “Billy” his donkey.
He was up the hill to collect Turf and Billy didn’t like the idea of his panniers being put on. So I was instructed to hold the donkey and where to give him a sharp nudge when he played up. The donkey did his best to stop his owner loading him up but in the end the job was done, thankfully, because I was beginning to feel dizzy while Billy walked me round in circles, he obviously knew I was a novice donkey minder and certainly took no notice of my probably timid nudges.
Still, it was an interesting experience on a gloriously sunny, if windy day and we parted company with the offer of a cup of tea “next time you are here, just ask for Sean Quinn, everyone knows where I live”
