Milestone -1000 Activations

Special day for me. After 15 years i’ve done my 1000th activation and 1001…

Lot’s of fun along the way, meeting like minded people from New Zealand to Norway and many points in between.

Made some proper friends, not just radio acquaintances, along the way. Thanks to everyone who has made it such fun.

Here’s to the next 1000.

It was Mynydd Troed GW/SW-009 this afternoon.

Thats gotta make for some sore feet

I was especially pleased with the qso with you on Tuesday on WB-013 Garaway Hill

At 182km (113miles in proper money) not a bad trip on 2m especially as it was omni-vertical on both sides. Ok, you were not very strong, but I guess after working you quite a few times on your 1000 activations getting to know a voice really helps

To be fair, the signal was up and down with stetches of R5 but fast fading and very little movment on the S meter. I did have a listen both Tueday and Today for the other summits, but not even a whisper of anything, so maybe a little enhancement took place.

As an aside, when you were on Mynydd Bodafon the other week, Allan GW4VPX was the strongest I’ve ever heard him from home. Odd really since, that would be about 45 degrees off on the direct beam heading. I really need to get that valley to valley contact in the log since when you look at the mass thats in the way, there must be a really thin path somewhere between the hills.
