Yep, I tried as long as I could distinguish calls to me from the qrm, had to give in after about 10 or so, sorry guys, I could hear you calling but it was mixing with the contesters, imd in the rx.
Moved to 30m where there was a stn working split 10.115-116, guess where my rm30 is? So moved to the weber tribander on 15m, peaceful and easy working NA.
It was very cold.
Good luck on 20m Pete.

Nearly had a disaster on today’s Rockmite adventure. I forgot the lead for the ATU. However, a Swiss Army knife, two reusable cable ties and the last 10cm of the antenna saved the day.
9 QSOs on 20m. OM1AX not in log. N4EX heard but not worked.

It was tough, very tough on 40 metres!
Apologies to anyone calling that I couldn’t hear.
I had about 30 contest stations in my bandpass, some of them were very loud
I’ve still to do a write up but preliminary figures are 56 QSOs:
40 on 14Mhz
16 on 7 Mhz.
Best DX was Barry N1EU - huge signal as usual!
Good contact with OH9NB who reduced power down from his 5W QRO to match my 300mW.
Still 2x599!
More later.

I am still thawing out. It was -17c at the TH and somewhat colder at the summit of Mt Herman. Once the winds started I was done. I had about 16 QSOs on 20 using 200 milliwatts to an EF.
wG0AT was able to spot me from the warm goat barn in order to get the pileup rolling Thanks chasers as you did all the hard work today. It might of been better without the WES contest. Thanks Steve for the spot.
More to come…

Great signal into eastern Kansas with 200 mw Frank. Couldn’t even tell you were cold as the CW sending was great. Thanks for the contact. Great Job!

Hi Frank…just wanted to let you know I was copying your RM sig in Smoky Lake AB…heard others working you…and I bet I could have worked you…but the SKCC WES participants drowned you out just as your sig came up. Next time!

In reply to RMers,
Well Done guys, seems like a good time was had by all despite the challenges! It seems like all the tough stuff has been done today - low temps, summit D-I-Y and severe QRM. Nice to see lots of RM activity.
I am planning to activate early tomorrow morning with 5 of my RockMites (well you don’t expect me to take them all do you?!) covering 40m, 30m, 20m and 17m. I intend to use my PP3 challenge rig under LA1KHA rule conditions, so I’d appreciate another call if I go on to 30m for a second time.
Weather is forecast to be very windy so I guess I might have a fight with the antenna, I’ll do the best I can.

The only QRM I had on 40 meters was a steady background carpet of quiet JA stations in a contest. Farthest QSO was 1,000 miles, long after sunrise. RM40 with outboard DSP…EFHW antenna at 5 meters.

Trip Report is here….
Thanks again guys for putting this together.

Thanks to all chasers. Hard work with a very wide rx, but probably even harder for the chasers with the weak signals.

Here’s my chaser log for the weekend. Peter, Ian and Aage were RockMiteing, I’m not sure if any of the others were. Forty was very noisy with the INORC and Norwegian contests, and the QRPp signals were quite hard to find. Thirty was almost as hard work as a string of special event stations were creating pile-ups right across the band.
The previous weekend (the one after the CQWW) was pretty much contest-free, which might be worth bearing in mind for next year?
