Earlier this week, Armin DL6GCA earned his 8th SOTA Mountain Goat in the beautiful Vosges forests – congratulations on this rare milestone!
Eight Mountain Goats is an impressive number – enough to have two teams of four play cards against each other, hi. Armin is even happier, though, about his 800th SOTA Complete one week earlier. For him, that’s the best and most special part of SOTA: activating an already chased summit and vice-versa. Here, he ranks among the real top ten in the SOTA world.
I was along for the Goat Tour that day. Armin is still as enthusiastic as he was on day one and keeps his eyes and ears open for everything along the way. Every day spent outdoors recharges the personal batteries for the sometimes a bit gray everyday life.
Armin has a wealth of expertise that he loves to share with others and a caring nature. Wishing you much joy on your journey ahead and thank you for being here with us!
I’d also like to take this opportunity to congratulate Armin @DL6GCA on his 8th Mountain Goat award Thank you for the QSOs, and I wish you continued enjoyment and good health on your future expeditions and activations.
Congrats on this incredible achievement, Armin
You can be heard from summits near and far on many days of the year. This reflects your enthusiasm which also becomes immediately apparent when talking to you face to face.
Thanks for many S2S QSOs. Have fun with our wonderful hobby and enjoy the beauty of the summits.
73, Roman
Congratulations Armin,
It is inspiring that your enthusiasm for hills, nature, and radio are as strong as they were on your first summit. I look forward to our next QSO.
73, Kevin
Thank you so much for your congratulations and good wishes.
Markus – you’re absolutely right, of course. During my working life, SOTA was the perfect way to unwind… and now, as a retiree, I’ve come to appreciate and love it so much that I want to enjoy it for as long as possible. And of course, it’s not just the hiking and radio operation… but also the many beautiful moments along the way.
In addition, this hobby has allowed me to meet and get to know many wonderful people who have become important to me, and some real friendships have developed.
All of this makes me very grateful for this program.
I wish you all many more wonderful moments on the way to… and at the summit.
Sincere congratulations Armin. Always a pleasure to catch you on your SOTA expeditions, of course in CW. A healthy and exciting “way of life”. Impressive numbers are one way of looking at it. Wonderful contacts with friends and nature another one.
The Condx are crazy right now. Sometimes it’s going quite well (I even heard you later on 18 MHz)… and a few stations from Indonesia, but they didn’t hear me… - and then everything goes dead again.
By the way, I had my DX antenna on … 5.8m of wire vertically on a 6m fishing rod (no radials)… 1:9 unun and 3m of coax with a balun on 140-43 to the KX2.
Dear Armin,
Congratulations again on your 8x Mg and 800 s2s. A fantastic achievement! I wish you strength, good health, and above all, much enjoyment in reaching your next goals.
I hope to hear much more from you. All the best and 73'
