Looking for Activators in West Virginia USA

Hi, I’d like to connect with anyone with experience in the state of West Virginia, or any other state that borders WV. I’m close to trying my first activation and would like to talk to someone with experience in the area.

I think W4GO is in that area, he might have some pointers for you.

Thank you. I’ll send him a note.

Allen / AG4VA would be another good resource for you.

…welcome to the sota fraternity Dennis, remember to have fun in your activities.

Cheers, Geoff vk3sq

thanks Ray, I’ll reach out.

Excellent advice!

AB8CI and I do a lot of activations in and near WV.

Whereabouts are you located?

Edit to add:
You may take a look at this thread over at the groups.io page for the Appalachian SOTA crew:
SOTAppalachia@groups.io | Save the Date – SOTA Appalachia Workshop, October 24

If you’re in the region on that day, come out and join us. That’ll give you an opportunity to meet a lot of the activators that you’ll hear on the air in the region.

Hi Chris, I’ll plan on attending the workshop. I bounce between Arlington, VA, Braxton County WV and NC. Lots of summits between those states! Looking forward to learning more.

Awesome, looking forward to meeting you. If you want to get out and do your first activation before the workshop, let me know. Bruce (AB8CI) and I can probably take you to a good first summit. We’re both in Manassas. Some nearby summits are great for VHF and can be easily activated with an HT.

BTW, in case you haven’t “discovered” it yet, Skyline Drive is chock full of summits, most with a modest hike.
