Lidl HF antenna for under a tenner

From the 20.2.2010 Lidl supermarket is selling 20m reels of OFC (Oxygen Free Copper) speaker cable for £9.99 (previously £12.99). This is enough to make a half wave dipole for 80m up. A neat antenna for 40m can be fashioned by splitting the cable at the 20m point and tying into a knot then using the rest of the cable as a twin feeder. The feeder can be the wound on a ferrite toroid (£2.50 from Sprat Trader) to form a 1/1 balun. Result is a nice antenna without many lossy joints. Better than paying £100 for something from W&S or ML or RW.
