I measured batteries #2 and #3 and both have failed. I’m guessing that it might be the cold temperatures in the outdoor shack that has killed them. I’ve been buying premium batteries in the past but I’ve decided to go more budget this time. Battery #4 is an Eveready Gold ‘value’ battery which cost £2.25 in the Settle branch of Booths.

Those two words don’t often go together.

I smiled when I saw budget and Booths in the same phrase.

I was travelling through the Booths region once and called in and bought a sandwich for lunch. It wasn’t cheap. Nor Fortnum & Masons expensive TBH. But it was very nice.

Here in Ilkley we are in the sweet spot where we have Booths (Preston based) and Boyes (Scarborough based). Boyes is a budget hardware and household store, so the opposite end to Booths.

I went to Carnforth this morning to do some food shopping. Maybe there’s a sweet spot in Carnforth too…
