La Reunion SOTA activation

James FR4PV has given early notice of activating FR/RE-002 Le Grande Benare on 26th/27th December 2015. The six operators will be using HF equipment with double dipole and FT897D. No further details of bands and times available at present. Will this be the first FR activation? Watch for Alerts and Spots nearer the time? Rob G0HRT

Hello Rob (and James),

Thanks for the info. I heard James chasing Carolyn G6WRW when she was in EA land. James was at home and was about 51-53 here. So reverse things and people should have a good chance. Not sure how much I will be around those days but will give it a shot if other festive things don’t take over :wink:

100w from the 897D should work well subject to propagation. Reunion Island is about 6000 miles SP from here.

See what happens I suppose.

Hi Robert,
This is very interesting and perhaps would be better in the activations - preplanning section of the reflector, not here in the “old reflector” section - which is ually very, very old news.

Forgot to mention - checked the summits list and NO FR summit has had an activation logged yet, so yes - I think this will be the first activation of La Reunion Island.

Dear friend
ce jour la la propagation n’ etait pas tres qro… depuis l europe
j ecoutais les stations USA 59+ … donc long skip
j ai l’avantage d’etre sur point haut où j 'habite…1200m
en general je nai pas trop de problemes pour contacter les OMS …
73 a bientot sur les bandes…où je suis tres actif

suite aux greves postales francaises…
na ayant pas recu l antenne dipole mt240x ni les batteries speciales ft897d , ni la valise panneaux solaires transportable…
nous avons ete contraints a reporter l activation…
